Guest Post: Perfumes by Natalee

As you can see from the title of this post, this is a guest post but your truly, Natalee and I'm from my blog ThereMightBeCoffee. In the past I've written for Amy before, but that was on her old blog (RoseberryLipsl) and that post was about fashion.

This one, as you can see is about perfume, thus is beauty related. Perfume is an amazing beauty related product and aside from lip products, is one of my favourites to use on a daily basis. As I don't wear a full face of make up, my perfume goes in place of it and since I was a little girl, my Mom has taught and told me all I need to know about perfume, which I am going to share in this post today.

This is my perfume collection up to this day and the oldest perfume in there dates back to 2005! Wanna know which one? It's Envy Me by Gucci. My newest edition in there is Rose by Paul Smith, which was a birthday present from my Mom this year.

This is a list of the perfumes I have in my collection so far (just for those who are wondering!):
Alien by Thierry Mugler
Angel by Thierry Mugler
Envy Me by Gucci
Gucci by Gucci Midnight
Fantasy by Britney Spears
Red Delicious by DKNY
Rose by Paul Smith
 Loverdose by Diesel
Lady Million by Paco Rabanne
 Chance by Chanel
Freak by Illamasqua
La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain
Miracle by Lancome
"Classique" X by Jean Paul Gaultier
Nina by Nina Ricci

In total I own 15 perfumes, that's quite a lot really, isn't it? Yet I STILL want more! Some of these are close to running out, so I'll need to replace them soon anyway, but even so I still have a wish list of perfumes I want to buy myself.

As you can see I own a lot of perfumes by Thierry Mugler (well ALL apart from Womanity) and two by Gucci. They're two of my favourites and I can never pick a third because I just love those two so much. I could see me getting into Marc Jacobs or even Viktor & Rolf.

So onto some facts, as well as some tips on how to use your perfume. A lot of people don't know this, but chances are a majority of you won't be using your perfumes correctly. "How so?" I hear you cry! Well I'm going to tell you.

First of all lets start with some facts about perfume! With female perfumes, you have two different types to chose from, EDT (Eau de Toilette) and EDP (Eau de Parfum). Of course there are versions for males too such as Aftershave, as well as Eau de Toilette. Now I know some people wonder what the differences are between EDT and EDP, well it's simple!

EDT - A light perfume. A PRO about this is that due to how light it is, it won't give you a headache. A CON about this though is that it won't last long, so if you wanted a smell that lasted all day you would need to spritz this throughout the day to ensure that would happen. OVERALL this is a great perfume for people who don't like strong scents, due to being prone to headaches and don't mind spritzing themselves throughout the day.

EDP - A stronger perfume. A PRO about this is that it will last you most if not all day and due to that you wouldn't need to keep spritzing yourself. A CON about this is that it could leave you wish headaches, depending on the perfume as some can be heavier than others. OVERALL this is ideal for someone who doesn't want to keep needing to spritz this on throughout the day and likes a good strong scent.

Now that we have the facts about perfume done, I'm going to share with you some tips I have been taught, as well as found out about over the years.

When spraying perfume on your wrists NEVER rub the scent from one wrist to the other. This will bruise the scent and therefore ruin the smell of the perfume. Just spray some of the perfume onto each wrist, it'll be worth it!

If you want to make sure your perfume smells lovely all day, spray some onto the backs of your knees. Yes this sounds rather silly but it DOES work! Spray some onto the backs of your knees and as you go about your day the backs of your knees will warm up and as heat rises, so will the perfumes scent, leaving you smelling gorgeous all day.

When trying out a perfume in store, or a sampler you've received in the post or with a purchase, spray it onto your skin, not onto the cards. Yes it's convenient to spray that new perfume onto one of the cute cards in Debenhams, but everyone has a different natural scent and by spraying the perfume onto those, you won't actually find out how it will smell on your skin. It's always worth spritzing your wrists or even your neck with the scent whilst out, walk around for a few hours and if you find yourself liking it, then go buy it! Simple!

If you suffer from sensitive skin like I do, then spray your perfume onto your clothes instead of you skin. Sometimes my skin can flare up and get spotty and irritated from spraying perfume onto my neck so sometimes I tend to spray perfume onto my clothes to help me smell nice. I usually spray it on my chest area.

Finally, less is more! I don't think I need to explain this tip!

So that's all my facts and tips covered on perfume, now it's onto a part I'm excited to share, my top 3 list! There will be 4 of these, all different from one another about favourites for both female and male, hates, and, even my wish list.

Top 3 Female Favourites:
Alien by Thierry Mugler - My all time favourite perfume! I can wear this from spring to winter and it'll work all year around. It's what I wore for mine and my boyfriends first date and it's what I've worn on all sorts of occasions in the past. I remember when it first came out in 2005 and my Mom taking me into Debenhams to have a smell. When Angel first came out my Mom bought a bottle and after a holiday away my Dad brought me back a small bottle. As much as I love Angel, Alien has made it into my top 3. It's wearable all the time and I just love it! I want to get the EDT version as well as some of the limited edition versions too. I just can't get enough of it!

Envy Me by Gucci - It took me a good two years to get a hold of this perfume! A girl at my school owned it and for ages wouldn't tell me what it was, until I caught sight of the bottle and on my last holiday (in 2005!) I found the same bottle, sniffed it and was reunited with the gorgeous scent! Since then I've been slowly using up my 50ml bottle. Soon enough I'll be buying a big 100ml bottle. This is one of the first perfumes I fell in love with, so it's got to be one of my favourites.

Chance by Chanel - This was one of my newest discoveries and I can say it is gorgeous. This one doesn't get worn as much as most of my perfumes because it's one of my expensive ones I own, as well as a fond favourite. I wear this for very special occasions and mostly during the summer and winter months as it's a fond favourite to wear then. It's a gorgeous scent and you can never go wrong with Chanel. This was a present from my Mom, as she knew I wanted a new perfume but I didn't know which at the time. She owns the same one, so it's nice for us to match.

Top 3 Male Favourites:
1 Million by Paco Rabbane - A guy I went to university with used to wear this all the time and he always smelt gorgeous, so the fact my boyfriend received this for Christmas was a God send. A gorgeous aftershave for men, just a shame the female version reaks!

Bleu de Chanel by Chanel - When I get the money to, I'm buying this for my boyfriend. It's so gorgeous and at one point I even contemplated buying it for myself because it just smells that great. Plus, Gaspard Ulliel does the advertising for this, such a beautiful man.

Only The Brave by Diesel - This is actually a scent that reminds me of my ex, which is somewhat of a shame as it's beautiful! Very unique scent and the Tattoo version smells just as good. I love when they brought this out in a limited edition Iron Man bottle, was so cool!

Top 3 Hates:
N°5 by Chanel - Okay I know EVERYONE loves this perfume but the smell of it gives me a headache. It's said to be a classic and it really does smell that way. I sound really ignorant but this something I can only imagine a rich old lady to use, it's just not my thing, sorry.

Womanity by Thierry Mugler - I LOVE Thierry Mugler but why the hell he came out with this, I don't know. It's VILE and everyone I know thinks the same thing as I do. My brother bought this for my Mom a few Christmases ago and she hates it to this day. It's just got a horrible smell to it.

Lady Million by Paco Rabanne - I know I own this but after one day of use, that was enough. It smells like baby powder or clean washing, which I know a lot of people like, but I don't think it's for me and it just leaves me with a headache and sore throat. I'll probably just start to use it in my room to make it smell nice.

3 Wishlist Items:
Miss Dior by Dior
Oh Lola! by Marc Jacobs
Bon Bon by Viktor & Rolf
