The Body Shop Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Grape Expectations.

In a recent post about freebies in December magazines, I mentioned that I got a Gift Card in Glamour magazine for The Body Shop. I ventured into The Body Shop before work one afternoon to see how much mine was for (they come in three amounts, you get either £3, £15 or £100!), my one was worth £3, so I couldn't go nuts in the shop like I really wanted too. But the good thing was I knew what I wanted and you could use your Love Your Body card at the same time and get your 10% off to make it even cheaper!

The product I was on a mission to get was the Eye Palette in Smokey Plum which was part of the Prepare to Party which is this years Special Edition winter trend make-up range. As you probably know, The Body Shop release a limited edition range of make-up, kabuki brush and body shimmer over the Winter period and as always, are super popular. So, as you can image I couldn't find the Eye Palette. I could find it in the other shade, Smokey Brown but every Body Shop I tried didn't stock it and multiple employees told me the entire company had sold out. So I asked if I could order it online, and they said no that they weren't getting any in stock and my best bet of getting it would be waiting until next year and see if, because it's been so popular this year, they might bring it out again. Safe to say I wasn't happy! So on my way home, I checked the Body Shop website straight away, and what do I find? The Smokey Plum palette! Even better, they honour my Love Your Body card so I go 10% off, plus they had a promotion going at the time so I got another 35% off, free delivery AND a free gift worth £10! If I was paying full price, plus p&p, it should have cost me just shy of £18, but with all the discounts, it cost me £9! Bargain! So I quickly placed an order and I'm expecting it to arrive within the next few days.

But what did I do with my £3 gift card? Well I wasn't walking away empty handed..

This was before I found out I could get the palette so I picked a shade from their Colour Crush eyeshadow range which I thought was closet to the palette, and I opted for the shade Grape Expectations.

Benefit Lipgloss in Hoola

Benefit Lipgloss in Hoola

As mentioned in my post about freebies in December magazines, I got a free Benefit lipgloss with December's Elle magazine. I originally wanted the shade Coralista, which is a coral red (you could also get the shade Dandelion, which was a nude pink toned shade) but all the Elle magazines I could find only had the shade Hoola, so I bought that. It was something new and something I wouldn't usually go for, but i'm always up for something once!

The Sinful Colors Series: Verbena

This week in the Sinful Colors series is; Verbena - an interesting grey toned purple, that had an interesting side effect on my nails..

The Sinful Colors Series: Verbena

The Sinful Colors Series: Verbena

Let me introduce you to Verbena - she is a lovely little purple lady with subtle grey tones running through her in certain lights. She is also one of the shades from the Sinful Colors range that doesn't have some kind of sparkle or shimmer running through her - which makes me a happy lady.

I picked up this polish because I only have one light purple, and that is Berry Ice Cream polish by Barry M - and that is a light purple shade (quite a bit lighter than Verbena, think pastel purple/liliac) so I was on the look out for a beautiful and elegant purple shade. Enter one of Sinful Colors cream nail polishes, named Verbena...

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in Shade 14 Pretty Prune

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in Shade 14 Pretty Prune

As I said in my recent mini haul post I picked up a Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick after seeing it on a look done by Sandra over on The Black Pearl Blog, whilst trying to find new ways to wear my Cranberry eyeshadow by MAC and falling in love with the shade she was wearing on her lips. The shade is shade 14 which is named Pretty Prune.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in Shade 14 Pretty Prune

The bullet looks like a deep brown shade and at first I wasn't sure I had picked the right one up because it looked completely different in person that it did on Sandra so I was skeptical, but make-up was on 3 for 2 in Superdrug so with would have been rude not to pop it in my basket wouldn't it?

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

A few weeks ago I mentioned Sleek's Vintage Romance collection and mentioned their Antique blush that was in the collection, today I have brought you the other part of their collection - their Vintage Romance palette!

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

As i said before, I absolutely adore the packaging for the collection. The colours are just stunning and definitely fits the Autumn/Winter theme and the time of year it is.

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

However, once you open the packaging it is the usual clean black plastic packaging (I always keep it and keep my palettes in them because it makes my makeup drawer look more colourful and I can easily see which palette is which, which is a hard thing to do when all Sleek palettes look the same!). However this is sturdy, however the problem I have with the matte black cases of sleek make-up is that is gets dirty easy! Especially considering I use my fingers to apply my foundation (I know, I know. It's a crime..), so a small bit always transfers to the palette casing! How very annoying!

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

I love the names of the shadows in this palette! All the shades in this collection are named after places and romantic things!
Top Row: Pretty in Paris, Meet in Madrid, Court in Cannes, Lust in LA, Romance in Rome, Propose in Prague.
Bottom Row: A Vow in Venice, Marry in Monte Carlo, Honeymoon in Hollywood, Bliss in Barcelona, Forever in Florence and Love in London.

Clockwise: Pretty in Paris, Meet in Madrid, A Vow in Venice and Marry in Monte Carlo.

Some of these are my least favourites of the palette. My least favourite of all the shades is Pretty in Paris which is a white eye shadow, and I found it's chalky and surprisingly for Sleek, doesn't seem that pigmented.

Pretty in Paris - A chalky white with limited pigmentation. Wouldn't be suitable covering large amounts of lid space but could work as a detailer colour.
Meet in Madrid - A yellow toned gold shade, quite pigmented but another light shade but is buildable and isn't as chalky as the white.
A Vow in Venice - A dark blue toned purple shade. Quite a pigmented matte shade and would be lovely as a crease colour or using on a smokey eye with a twist. I think this shade is trying to be a dupe of Cranberry my MAC.

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

Clockwise: Court in Cannes, Lust in LA, Honeymoon in Hollywood and Bliss in Barcelona.

Clockwise: Court in Cannes, Lust in LA, Honeymoon in Hollywood and Bliss in Barcelona.

Court in Cannes - A brown toned gold. Quite pigmented and a shimmery shade. Would be nice for the Christmas period or as an accent colour.
Lust in LA - A very pigmented Olive gold shade with gold shimmer running through it, almost has a metallic look to it when applied all over the eyelid.
Honeymoon in Hollywood - The most pigmented shade in this palette. A plum pink/purple shade with silver glitter running through it. Very pigmented and sparkly, and would go lovely if paired with Cranberry by MAC and perfect for the current red trend.
Bliss in Barcelona - A metallic blue/purple shade than is one of the shades that isn't true to colour. Rather than being a metallic purple/blue shade it's more of a toned down grey/purple shade rather than blue. It is quite pigmented and the metallic is there but it is toned down once applied.

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

Clockwise: Romance in Rome, Propose in Prague, Forever in Florence and Love in London.

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

Clockwise: Romance in Rome, Propose in Prague, Forever in Florence and Love in London.

Romance in Rome - Another metallic blue shade with sparkle running through it, however just like Bliss in Barcelona, it is not true to pan and it tones down and the shimmer doesn't transfer when applied. Would make a nice blending shade rather than applied as a base. Not very pigmented though which i have found is a running theme in metallic shades.
Propose in Prague - Once of the natural shades in this collection, it is one of the only matte shades as well so it would be useful for every day use or wearing it to work to give you a bit of colour but nothing dramatic. It is an orange toned brown and is highly pigmented.
Forever in Florence -  Very pigmented deep purple with silver sparkle running through it. The sparkle transfers well to the skin and the colour is true to pan.
Love in London - a gorgeous black shade with silver glitter running through it, which to me looks like stars in the night sky. One of the most pigmented shades in the palette and the glitter transfers well to the skin.

I have mixed opinions on this palette - several shades are disappointing to me, which is unusual for Sleek as their products are usually amazingly pigmented and very high quality. However for the most, the are good but and the shades are beautiful and definitely go well with the theme they are going for. But to be honest, as much as it pains me to say it, this palette isn't worth writing home about but I don't regret picking it up as the highly pigmented shades do make up for it.

Nails Inc. polish in Big Red Apple

Another freebie I got which I mentioned in my post about freebies in magazines in December was a FULL SIZED Nails Inc. polish in the December issue of Elle magazine. There were four shades to choose from - a metallic gold, metallic silver, a red and a black. Straight away before even going to the shop I had decided that I wanted the red because as you probably know by now, I'm definitely a red kind of girl!

It was such a mission to get this polish, I went to 3 different shops! The first shop I went too had four copies of Elle, and every single one had the plastic ripped off the front and the free gifts stolen! I told the cashier and she couldn't care less! Safe to say I won't be shopping there again..

Nails Inc. polish in Big Red Apple

Anyway, once I found it I snapped up the magazine with the red polish called 'Big red apple', when I first heard about these, I thought they were going to be mini versions of the polish, but I was wrong! They are full sized bottles of polish. Now i'm tempted to pick up the other colours.. plus i'd be getting more Body Shop gift cards too! Bonus!

Nails Inc. polish in Big Red Apple

In the bottle it definitely looks like a classic red polish - just what I wanted! I have reds but they all seem to have some kind of sparkle in, even if it is a very tiny amount. So this makes me very happy!

Nails Inc. polish in Big Red Apple

And I can safely say I have nothing but love for this polish! this is what it looks like after ONE coat! You don't need any more than one coat to make it completely cover the nail. (I apologise about the chips.. this was taken after a day at work, and as you know I have a very hands on job!) On the nails it definitely is that classic red which you can never go wrong with and the shade definitely compliments my skin tone! I just wish my nails were longer at the minute but hopefully they will grow quickly. This is definitely my new favourite polish.

Now do I give in and get the other shades to see if they are just amazing as this one?

The Sinful Colors Series: Innocent

This week it's time for Innocent - a bright pea green colour.

The Sinful Colors Series: Innocent

The Sinful Colors Series: Innocent

This is a very similar colour to a Barry M shade I have (305 I think?) it's what I would describe as a pea green colour with yellow undertones running through the polish. I've never been sure about this shade of green (just like with blue, i'm not really a green kind of person) but when I saw it on the stand in Boots, I thought why not! In to my basket I went and it came home with me.

MAC Lipstick in Prepare for Pleasure - Divine Night Holiday Collection

This was a bit of an accidental purchase, but it was bargain so i'm not complaining. I went to MAC after work to pick up a lipstick for Natalee and as I was making my way to the till I found this lipstick...

HOW PRETTY IS THE PACKAGING?

It's so beautiful and looks rather fancy! This lipstick is from the Divine Night Holiday collection and because it's from a collection and not from their permanent line, the packaging is slightly different. Rather than a different design, MAC chose to change the colours, making it black and gold rather than black and silver. And I LOVE it, it really does look so fancy.

The shade I went for is Prepare for Pleasure which is a cremesheen lipstick.
(the nail polish in this picture is Nails Inc. Big Red Apple)

All the silver on the packaging is gold which is seriously gorgeous, and goes amazingly with the red of the bullet! Prepare for Pleasure is a pink toned red and as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it! It has a tiny amount of shimmer running through it but it doesn't make it a sparkly lipstick at all. The lipstick smells just like all of MAC's other lip products.. that gorgeous Vanilla scent that I just want to eat up.

The formula of this lipstick is just gorgeous! It glides on smoothly and because it is a cremesheen lipstick, it isn't a bold lipstick. Of course it can be if you want, as you can build it up. But with one application of the lipstick it's a bit sheer so whilst it gives you amazing colour on your lips - it isn't intense. Plus if you blot it as well, it won't be as intense so you can make it suit any occasion! I can see this being my go to lipstick for the Christmas and Winter period. It's very comfortable to wear and feels moisturizing on the lips. All of my usual red lipsticks are blue toned, so it's lovely to have a pink toned one, it makes a great change and definitely makes it such a unique colour in my lipstick collection.

This lipstick is meant to retail at £16.50 however, I bought it at Debenhams during the Winter Spectacular so recived 10% off making it £14.90, but then I got 20% staff discount off of that price which made it £12.10. Which made me a VERY happy bunny! I definitely have my eye on other lipsticks and products in the Diving Night Holiday Collection as they are all absolutely gorgeous products, so may take another trip there on payday!

Friday Favourite #1: The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

This review is a little different as it's not make-up related, but here we go:

I have always been a massive Eminem fan. So when he was announced he was releasing a new album, I was so insanely excited! I've missed him so much from the music scene since his last album 3 years ago, but in his words "Slim Shady's back, bitch" - and it couldn't be more perfect!

The first snippet of the album we saw was when he released the song Survival featuring Skyler Grey as part of the soundtrack to the new Call of Duty game; Ghosts and featured on the advert. Skyler also featured on Eminem's other songs such as I Need A Doctor.

You can watch the official music video below; and if I don't say so myself, he is looking absolutely gorgeous! Literally don't care he is 41! ;)

December Freebies

Everyone loves free stuff! If you say you don't, your lying! December looks like an amazing month for freebies, I picked up Glamour and Elle but there were so many more I wanted to get. Glamour magazine has so far, just like previous years, come out with the best in my opinion.

The freebies I got with these magazines: Nails Inc. nail polish in Big Apple Red, A Body Shop gift card and a Benefit Lipgloss.

The Sinful Colors Series: Cinderella

This week for the Sinful Colors Series is; Cinderella - A unique shimmery pale Winter blue.

(The yellow i'm wearing in this photo is Sinful Colors: Let's Meet - review here)

I had to pick up this polish because it's so unique and I have never seen anything like it before! It's a beautiful pale blue with sparkles that shine pink and silver in the light so when light hits your nails, it shines all different colours! It was so hard to capture the sparkle because of the light reflecting off the bottle but hopefully you can see some of the sparkle round the edges.

I think Cinderella is a beautiful name for this polish (some of the Sinful Colors polishes have names that I don't think are associated with the color or just are a bit weird in my opinion!) - i think this polish reminds me of the winter and frosty nights. Like the snow and ice being hit by light and glistening in the winter sun - it just feels very frosty to me! (maybe they should have named it Frosty? it would have been perfect!)

Just like Let's Meet (a mustard yellow colour) this polish is one of the sheer formulas from Sinful Colors and has a thin consistency so it takes quite a few coats to get complete coverage and ensure none of your nail shows through the polish. I do really like the polish and the sparkle is absolutely beautiful when the light hits in.

But in my opinion it doesn't suit me, especially with my pale skin as I think the shade of the polish brings out the cold tones in my skin and makes me look cold and doesn't bring any warmth to the skin. But then again, i'm not one of those people who can pull off blue tones (i'm more of a red tones kind of person because of my skin tone) which is a shame as it is a beautiful nail polish.

Cinderella is one of the polishes that Sinful Colors have in their Shimmer category and I would definitely agree with this thanks to the unique glitter that is in this polish.

Just like all Sinful Colors Nail Polishes Cinderella comes in at £1.99 so it's not bank breaking it it turns out not to work with your skin tone (I personally think that pale blue is a very hard colour too pull off on any skin tone, let alone pale sparkly blue!).

Maybelline Baby Lips: Cherry Me

I know I'm late to the party - but I finally got my hands on a Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm, and in the flavour I wanted - Cherry Me. I had been searching for weeks to find this but everywhere seemed to stock every flavour except this one. So as soon as I found it one day whilst browsing in my local Boots store, I grabbed it with both hands!

Maybelline Baby Lips: Cherry Me

Baby Lips is a fun lip balm - the packaging is adorable - each packaging has different colours. This one is orange with pink writing and my Original one is blue with light pink writing. I like the brightness of them as it makes the balms stand out in my bag which means I can easily grab them on the go. The packaging is sturdy plastic and the caps hold well, meaning they won't come off easily in your bag.

Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'

Sleek are back with their 2013 Autumn Collection called Vintage Romance. As soon as I even saw the packing I knew it had to be mine. It's so beautiful! In the Collection is a palette, a blush and two nail polishes. I only picked up the palette and blush as I didn't fancy the colours of the two nail polishes avaliable (a pink and a red). The packaging is simply beautiful! Reds, browns, rusty pinks and yellows mixed in with leaves, flowers and music sheets - they definitely go with the Autumnal feel and shout Vintage Romance!

I thought I would do these products as two reviews, so today I have the blush for you.

Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'
A closer look at the packaging - so beautiful! It also says how much product you get (8g) alongside the shade name, which is in beautiful gold script - Antique.

Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'

The actual blusher itself has the standard Sleek packaging. A simple black plastic case just like the rest of the products from Sleek. I like them as they are very sturdy and look simple and elegant. A problem I found with the case of the blusher was, that it was extremely hard to open, as in it took two hands and about 5 minutes to open it because it wouldn't budge! I have found this has got easier with time though and the more i've used it, I now have no problem with opening it. But this is something to bear mind when purchasing it.

Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'

The product itself is a rusty brown with silver and gold shimmer running through it - perfect for Autumn/Winter time and when applied it does give a lovely warm glow to your face. You don't need alot of get the desired result though, just the tiniest tap into the pan to get an amazing pay off of colour on to your brush - the saying a little bit goes a long way, definitely applys here. If you run your finger over the product - it feels slightly rough because of the amount of shimmer and glitter packed in there but this feeling doesn't transfer to the face.

The blush does have a large mirror in the top so should you need to take this out on the go, you can easily look in there to do any touch ups - however, this blusher doesn't come with it's own brush so you would need to use it's own. I personally use a small Body Shop one that slides into itself, so perfect for on the go.

Sleek Vintage Romance Blusher in 'Antique'

On the skin, it's a rusty brown with orange and pink undertones running through it and the sparkle is still evident, but slightly less obvious as it is in the pan. But if you don't like shimmer in your face products, this is something you should avoid. As I said, you only need the tiniest amount on your brush to get amazing colour pay off, so this small pan should last literally years. The smooth formulation means the product is easy to blend aswell, meaning if you accidentally do put too much on - you don't have to worry about removing it, just simply blend it until it's the desired amount.

Next, I shall review the most gorgeous palette in the world. The Vintage Romance Palette! Keep a look out for that soon. (:

A Friday Haul: Yankee Candle, Bourjois, MUA and Rimmel.

So, before work on Friday I had my eyebrows booked in for a Wax and Tint at Benefit, and after I had 45 minutes to kill before work, so what else would you do when you are in a shopping center? Shop!

So, what did I get? Well...

1. Wax Tart Burner

This is what I set out to buy.. and for once, I actually bought what I set out to buy! A burner for Wax tarts! I have wanted one for a long time but never got round to buying one. So I decided, enough is enough and I got one from a small candle shop in the shopping center (which is now officially my favourite shop! It sells such cute little things!)
I was going to go for a purple heart one, but after thinking about it, i realized that I probably would burn myself getting the small tealight candle in the burner to melt the wax - the opening was small and fiddly! So I opted for this red flower one! It also came in blue and green - but i'm definitely a red kind of girl!

2. Yankee Candle Wax Tarts

Well, If you are buying a burner, your going to need something to put in it! I couldn't decide on a flavour so I picked up for. I opted for Macintosh Spice, Vanilla Lime, Sparkling Lemon (which I have had before and LOVED!) and Sugared Apple (which I have in my burner as i'm typing this!)

I won't say too much about these as i'm planning a proper review on them - so stay tuned for that. All I will say is, my room smells divine. My room smelt beautiful even with them just in the packaging so i'm excited to see what they all smell like when they have melted!

3. Yankee Candle in Black Cherry

This is my all time favourite scent from Yankee! So of course I wanted it in a tart too but I knew I would get more, so I thought i'd save myself going back to the shop to get more tarts and just buy a big jar of it!

It smells absolutely gorgeous - cherries are my favourite smell and favourite fruit, and Cherry is also my favourite colour! Me and my stepmum actually went back to the shopping center today to get a few things and we ended up both putting money towards a bigger jar of Black Cherry which we now have burning in our living room. I officially don't want to leave the living room - it smells absolutely beautiful and I can tell the candle is going to last FOREVER! And to me, this can only be a good thing!

4. Lipsticks and Nailpolish

I have been wanting one of these lipsticks since forever - Starry Eyed by Rimmel. I first saw this when I watched Melonlady on YouTube, as I have been a fan of hers for ages, and I kept seeing her wear this stunning shade and I always wanted to know what it was - so when I saw she did a Lipstick video, it made my day when she mentioned what lipstick it was so I made it my mission to snap it up. But everywhere I tried for literally weeks was always sold out, but today.. I found it! The last one and before you could blink it was in my basket and I was handing over the cash!

I also bought Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in Shade 14 Pretty Prune (I almost grabbed Shade 18 too as that was beautiful and i'm sure that will be in my collection soon!) I first saw this shade in a look done by The Black Pearl and loved it, it was the kind of shade I adore so knew I had to have it.

The final purchase of the day was a nailpolish by MUA. This was a spur of the moment spend, as it was three for two on all beauty products that day so it would be rude not too. Plus as soon as I saw this I knew it would be a perfect Autumn shade. I was ininitally looking at the MUA stand to see if I could spot the new Luxe Lip Laquers but they hadn't got their delievery yet, so I have to wait even longer for them. But I found this beautiful polish which is absolutely gorgeous - if a bit on the small side.

I won't say too much about these products because I will be doing in depth reviews for all of them. But I LOVE all of them already
