Rediscovered: The Body Shop Lipstick in 06

Recently, I was sorting out my make-up drawer and came across this lipstick again - a shimmery nude lipstick from The Body Shop. I had completely forgotten about this lipstick for a good 7 or 8 months! Yet I can remember exactly where and when I got it - I was with a good friend at the time on a day out in Newcastle whilst we were at University last year and we had nipped in the Body Shop near the metro station in the city centre and I was browsing for so long looking at lipsticks until my friend convinced me to get this one as I had nothing like it already as I hardly ever wear nude lipsticks.

Anyway - I found it lurking at the bottom of my box of lipsticks and i decided to wear it to work the following day as I was going for a different look (a light brown smokey eye and warm tones) and this went with the colour theme -  I was working with Colour Theory that day as I wanted to make my eyes pop, so used brown and warm tones on my face (and it worked!) and I really liked the combination! The lipstick wasn't a nude as I thought and gave my lips a lovely shimmery look to them with a hint of brown with peach undertones - lovely and warming for my light skin tone.

Kat Von D: Painted Love & Foiled Love Lipstick Set.

This lipstick set was the first Kat Von D make up product that I bought - being from the UK it is extremely difficult to get hold of any of Kat's make-up here, therefore I am heavily reliant on eBay as we don't have any Sephora stores over here.

Words couldn't contain my excitment when I stumbled across this set on eBay containing six lipsticks - one of them being a foiled lipstick in Adora. Which is the lipstick I had been lusting after ever since I laid my eyes on any of the Kat Von D products, and being the huge Kat fan that I am - seeing her wear this beautiful shade made me want it instantly - we both share a love of a red lip.

Being that I had to go on eBay for this set and having it shipped over from the US ensured it wasn't a cheap purchase. Altogether it cost me around £50 plus around £6 p&p. It took around a week and a half to arrive, unfortunatly I had it sent home as I was at uni at the time and didn't want to risk it being lost in the mail (I had already had several cases of letters being lost that were sent to my Uni address!) so i didn't get my hands on these lipsticks until several weeks later when I got home.

(Adora, Celebutard, Backstage Bambi, Hellbent, Vestalula and Whiskey Woman)

The lipsticks are only mini's so not full sized ones, each lipstick contains 1.2g of product. I didn't mind though - I have love anything Kat Von D a ridiculous amount so it didn't bother me in the slightest  I was just happy I finally had some of her products myself. The eBay had stated they were mini so I knew what I was getting when I purchased them, so it didn't come as a shock when I opened the packaging.

17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Pink Hawaii

I was recently given a new lipstick from a family member who didn't want it any more as she never wore it and knew I am a self confessed lipstick addicted, I happily took it off her hands. It's Pink Hawaii by 17 - a lovely bright baby pink shade - the name I think is rather apt as when I see or have this lipstick on it reminds me of Hawaii and/or a party or even a punch bowl! So this name suits it well - it's definitely a shade for the Summer and I can tell I will be wearing it a lot.

17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Pink Hawaii

The lipstick comes in a simple black case with a gold metal band around the middle. The brand is printed on the top and there is a sticker on the bottom in a similar shade to the lipstick itself, with the lipstick name and shade name printed on it. It's simple but the metallic pink adds a touch of silly girliness to the case, which I can't decide I like or if it makes it look cheap and tacky.

MUA Gel Eyeliner in Tribe

A few months ago I picked up some products from the MUA stand in Superdrug and one of them was this wonderful blue gel eyeliner, in shade Tribe (one of the rare products from MUA that has a name rather than a shade number!) along with a few other things, but when I got home and opened it, excited to try my new make-up out, I discovered it was half empty - it wasn't a tester as it didn't have the sticker on and I had taken it from the back. Unimpressed, I went back to Superdrug on my break from work the following day and spoke to the manager who said I could swap it for another - but they didn't have any more in stock so I settled for a black gel eyeliner from MUA.

Then a few weeks later, MUA ran a discount on their website for reaching a certain number of fans so I bought a few bits online (more on that in this post) and this is when I picked up this gel eyeliner as I refused not to have it in my collection. It took a few days to arrive but I was over all happy with that as I knew they would be busy shipping a lot of things out because of the offer on.

MAC Eyeshadow: Folie

A few weeks ago I made my first MAC eyeshadow purchase. As i've mentioned before I have a friend's wedding to go to in June and was on the look out for a new eyeshadow to go with my dress as I usually focus on my lips and wanted to do something a little different. After chatting with a lovely lady at the MAC counter in the store I work in, she suggested some eyeshadows and what kind of stuff I could do with what eyeshadows I had already (we worked with the Naked palette mainly) and she suggested a lovely orangey colour and this brown as they would make my eyes pop according to colour theory.

In simple terms in eyeshadow colour theory is used to make features such as your eyes stand out. Browns/Oranges make blue eyes pop, Purples/blues would make green eyes pop and green/blues would make brown eyes pop. Basically, use the opposite colour on the colour wheel and it will compliment your eyes.

As I only wanted one eyeshadow at the time, we settled on a lovely brown shade named Folie, which is a soft satin eyeshadow.

Rimmel Glam Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara

On my quest to find the perfect mascara, the next one I have been testing out is Rimmel London's Glam Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara. I'll be honest with you from the start, the only reason I got this mascara is because I got a gift card for Boots for Christmas so a few weeks ago I used it to get a Mascara and as I wanted a lipstick as well, this was the only one I seemed to like that came within budget. So I got it!

I was confused by it at first as to how this product worked but I soon figured it out, twist and pulled the black end where it says 'Length' to get the brush out with a small amount of product on to give you length rather than volume, or you can twist and pull the pink section which says 'Volume' to get a lot of product on the brush.

MAC Brush Cleaner

For a while now I've been meaning to pick up a brush cleaner for my make-up brushes as I didn't think the simple cleaning method i've been using was getting all the horrible stuff off of my brushes - so this payday I decided to eventually pick up some brush cleaner whilst I was at the MAC Counter picking up and eyeshadow (review coming!).

MAC Brush Cleaner

The solution comes in the usual simple black box that all MAC products come in - I personally like the packaging, it's simple and to the point, yet sophisticated. The solution itself is pink and comes in a clear bottom and you get 235ml of liquid (it does go up to the lid, but I had already used it when I took this photo. Bad blogger, I know!) The liquid itself doesn't have any scent and comes out the bottle quickly, so be careful when putting it into a dish when you wash your brushes. I used mine the evening I got home as I didn't plan on wearing make-up the next day, so I knew I wouldn't be worrying if they dried quickly or not.

These are just some of the brushes I tested the brush cleaner on when I got home. (Body Shop foundation brush - which needed a massive clean! Body Shop blending brush and Body Shop Face brush). I use a couple of squirts of the solution in a small dish and swirled the brushes in the liquid, making sure I didn't leave them in the solution for too long so that the liquid didn't soak up into the ferrel (the metal bit when the brushes are glued together, to you and me), as if the liquid got in there it was affect the glue, and that's when your brushes start to malt - and I didn't want that. Because I was doing a deep clean I repeated the process 3 times (new liquid each time) to make sure they were lovely and clean and I was SHOCKED at how much stuff came off these brushes! I used an old towel to wipe the brushes on to get an excess water and product off on, and just look at how much came off! These brushes did take a while to dry, even with leaving them near a radiator for 36 hours, but as I said I wasn't wearing make-up the next day so I didn't worry. Once they were dry - they felt wonderful and soft again! I know next time I won't need as much cleaner because they brushes have been deep cleaned so the 235ml should last me quite a while! I plan on cleaning my brushes every week or two (at the very least) with this to make sure they are hygienic and clean.

What do you use to clean your brushes?

Simple 12 Hour Hydrating Light Moisturiser

I recently ran out of moisturiser, I had previously been using one by Clean & Clear and it was okay - nothing special, but nothing making me want to buy it again. So, when I nipped to Superdrug to buy some shampoo and conditioner, I quickly looked at the skin care aisle and spotted this moisturizer by Simple. First thing that made me get it was the price - £1.95! And it's quite a big bottle too - and it sounded lovely! 12 hour hydrating moisturiser that was light, which is good because I don't like using heavy products on my face as I wear quite a good coverage foundation so everything else I keep light and minimal to help my skin. I wasn't sure as I have never used this brand before except for face wipes and more recently, eye make-up remover and they had worked lovely (the eye make-up remover smells SO fresh and lovely!) so knowing they were okay with my skin, I picked this up. It was on offer anyway so it wouldn't matter too much if I didn't like it.

Avon Lipstick: Amethyst Gold

I bought this lipstick a while ago from our local Avon lady (who come to think of it hasn't been round for a while.. strange.) Anyway, I had seen this in a few brochures and had been umming and arring for a while before eventually taking the plunge and buying it. It the book it looks liked a beautifully high pigmented shimmery purple with gold running through it.

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche in Crazy Fuchsia

I picked up this lipstick a while ago when I dressed up as Lady Gaga for an American themed leaving party (a friend was leaving to move to America for a year) - So I glammed up and got a blonde wig complete with hair bow, glasses and a dress and went as Lady Gaga! (It was either her or Kat Von D and I couldn't be bothered drawing on myself with eyeliner for tattoos.. so I just did the peace tattoo on wrist and donned a wig and sunglasses and declared I was the singer! I somehow gained fans on the night out because they apprently loved me and loved her.. who knew!) Anyway, that's not the point! The point is, i had invested in a bright pink lipstick.

This is quite scary for me.. I am a lipstick girl, however i liked reds and berries, not pinks and bright colours! Quite frankly this kind of bright terrifies me but I went for it anyway (I wasn't me for the night so what did it matter?)

MAC Lip Conditioner

Recently I invested in a lip conditioner from MAC, over the winter months i've been suffering with horrible dry lips (partly thanks to the air con at work too!) - which is an absolute nightmare if your favourite make-up is Lipstick! So I quickly set about trying to something to make my lips feel a bit happier whilst it's cold outside. Enter MAC lip conditioner...

MUA Lipsticks

I first discovered MUA a while a go now after hunting around in Superdrug wanting a cheap lipstick - and I found it. MUA Lipsticks retail at £1! But are they any decent at such a low price, in short.. YES, YES, YES.

I've quickly accumilated such a wide range of MUA products over the last year or so because they are such bargains, but also such fab products (for the most part, but that's a post for another time!)

Lipsticks are easily the product I have most of and so these are five of the shades I have (another lipstick by MUA That I have is Lipboom which is a collaboration with Alexandra Burke and a review for that can be found here.) Anyway, MUA Products don't have any fancy names, they are just shade numbers (But i think's that's changed with some of the new palettes such as Undressed Me Too).

MUA Liquid Eyeliner in Shade 2 and Shade 3

When MUA had a 40% (i think! It was a fair few weeks ago now!) sale on for reaching a certain amount of 'likes' on Facebook - I toddled on to their website to get a lipstick I'd be lusting after for a while (Lipboom in It's A Situation) - however you only got the discount if you spent £10 online, but with the discount you'd only be spending £6 plus £2 postage. I didn't mind too much as it's still a bargain! So to help make up my £10 worth of products, I picked up two liquid eyeliners - Shade 2 (blue) and Shade 3 (Gold).

Liebster Award

I have just got an e-mail saying i've been nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Lara at Life by Lara - thank you so much! It honestly made my morning. The Liebster Award is given to bloggers with under 200 followers to show them that people do like their blog and as some motivation to keep going. It helps show you that your blog isn't a bad blog - it's just undiscovered! And I think it's a wonderful idea!

Part of the award is you answer some questions given by the person who nominated you and state 11 facts so your followers can get to know you a little bit more, and to pass it on you have to give your own 11 questions and nominate 11 blogs to nominate for this fab little award - such a lovely idea.

11 Facts About Me:

1) My cat is my absolute best friend and I am a self confessed cat lady!
2) I absolutely HATE horror films as i'm very squeamish but I love the Paranormal Activity series.
3) I'm indecisive about everything - it will literally take me and hour to two to decide on a colour to paint my nails, then will more than likely change it again a few hours later as I changed my mind. This is the only reason why I don't have a tattoo.
4) I used to have 9 piercings but now I only have 7 as I took my snake bites out. I now have 3 in each ear lobe and my tragus in my left ear.
5) I am a massive fan of The Sims games.

8) I absolutely love living in England, my dad always says I will move to LA one day as he knows my love for that place, but I love England too much.
9) I have a mixed accent as I have lived in different parts of England. I grew up in Leicester, Lived in Sheffield and went to Sunderland University and lived with people from Liverpool, Newcastle, London and the Midlands.
10) My favourite seasons are Winter and Summer. I don't like the inbetween ones such as Spring and Autumn.
11) I will meet Kat Von D one day, this is not up for discussion.
