Lush Bath Bomb: Fizzbanger

For me, Saturday nights are pamper night and that means a relaxing hot candle lit bath and body butter - the works! So a few Saturdays a go I asked on the Facebook Page for bath bomb recommendations as I, shock horror, have never had a bath bomb before. There is a reason for this! But i'll get on to that shortly..

Anyway, after several wonderful suggestions from people I popped into Lush on my break from work (it's quite handy working almost next door to fab shops!) and with some help from the lovely lady there - I got Fizzbanger.

It took a lot of deciding as I am quite picky and weird when it comes to bath time.. (kind of), this is why i have never tried a bath bomb (or bubble bar or anything of the sorts before) as I don't like anything in the bath as I hate the feel of something brushing against me (for this reason I hate going in the sea!), I don't like things left in the bottom of the bath when i'm done and I'm quite fussy about smells. So explaining what I like and don't like to the shop assistant, who was more than happy to help, she suggested Fizzbanger.

Fizzbanger is quite a large yellow bath bomb. It contains citric acid, Ylang Ylang oil, Fizzy Candy(!), Cinammon Leaf Oil, Petitgrain Oil and Gardenia Extract amongst other things. I'm not going to kid you, or myself, into pretending I know anything about ingredients or like I know what i'm talking about with bath bombs. Instead, I'll be honest as to why I bought it. I bought is simply because it smelt amazing (cinnamonny apple kind of flavour that reminded me of Christmas - don't judge me. I like Christmas and Christmas smells! I don't care it's almost Spring! I will rebel!) and because the lady said it changed colour and it had a surprise inside plus contained popping candy. That's the only reason why I bought it, and it's bloody good reason if I say so myself! A colour changing, candy popping ball of Christmas complete with a surprise? Nothing could be better.

Lush Bath Bomb: Fizzbanger

I popped this large beast of a bath bomb into the water as I was running it and the Fizzbanger started fizzing away straight away (..well the clue was in the name) and it left a trail of yellow around my bath as it slowly moved around. Then, surprise! A wild blue streak appeared amongst the yellow water.. this ball of tricks had a blue centre! The blue combined with the yellow and as what happens when these two colours mix, I had a green bath. Wonderful!

Then the bath bomb split in half and that's when the sweet, sweet popping candy made an appearence making the bath crackle like a big bowl of Rice Krispies! How awesome!

However, that's were the amazingness stopped for this little (or should I say large) guy.. by this point I had to turn off the water as the bath was getting full, but what's this? there's still alot of bath bomb left floating in the water! I started swishing the water around to try and get it to dissolve quicker, and after 5 minutes of doing this it eventually almost went so I felt able to get it (as I explained earlier, me and things in the bath don't get along!). But as I enjoyed my bath and the lovely smell that had filled the bathroom - what was the surprise? the lady in the shop had said there was a surprise! Rolling my eyes, I figured it must have been my luck that I had gotten a duff one. So I carried on my bath as normal (it wasn't as nice as suspecting, the water had cooled down because of the swishing trying to dissolve the bath bomb so It wasn't the temperature I liked! boo!)

After I got out, the water was still a vivid green and still smelt beautiful and as I went to pull the plug, I noticed something near the plug hole.. a small white thing. I pulled it out and discovered that this was the 'surprise' - a small white piece of paper that said 'BANG' on it in comic style writing. That was the surprise? Disappointment! But I suppose the bath bomb was called FizzBANGer after all.. but I was still expecting something more 'wow'. But nevermind...

The bath bomb did leave stuff left behind after the water had gone.. I guess it was the bits from the popping candy, but also strangly it left black blobs of stuff. Unimpressed.

Would I buy this bath bomb again? No. Sure, I liked it but not enough to spend that much on and not to have an epic bath whilst being wowed by surprises! Would I buy a bath bomb again? I have no idea...

  1. Aww, I love Fizzbanger! But I can see how not liking things in the bath would make it difficult to enjoy bath bombs... (NEVER try Big Blue :P)

I would maybe recommend Avobath - it smells really nice and lemony, and is quite small so it should dissolve fairly quickly. Unfortunately there's no colour change or surprise inside but it's still really nice!

    1. See I don't mind if there's no surprise inside as I don't like anything in the water. I think i'll definitely look into Avobath, is that by LUSH? I do enjoy Lemony scents (Currently burning a Lemon Yankee!) And thanks for the heads up, I shall avoid Big Blue! haha! :D

  2. I have never tried this bath bomb but it looks nice! if you don't like things floating in the bath maybe try a lush bubble bar, you just break a bit of and run it under the tap and it makes your bath pink and bubbly!

    1. It did smell really nice, I think it would have been even better if it was smaller or fizzed away quicker! Ooh, that sounds wonderful, i'll have a look at one next time i'm on my way to work!

      thanks for following. (:

  3. Ooo I've never tried Fizzbanger before and although I've wanted to for ages I've just never got round to buying it. However I need more Lush products as I'm running low (I only have 1 Space Girl left!) and have loads on my list at the moment of what I want to try and buy.

Now after reading this, I want to try this bath bomb! :D
